The excitement is building!

Still one of my favorite Wolfie caricatures of me! (and I wish it were raining!)

The Shadow Lane party in Vegas is now two weeks away. Room is booked, tickets are purchased. And my usual cocktail of nerves and excitement is setting in, big time.

Yesterday I got to see Alex for lunch, on the last day of her L.A. trip. My only complaint was that our time was limited and I could have easily spent twice as much time with her. She is such a doll! But I get to see her again in two weeks, as she'll be at SL as well. And all our party/video/scene chitchat kicked me into pre-party mode.

ICAN'TWAITICAN'TWAITICAN'TWAIT! Not just for the play (although that's huge), but seeing so many adored friends, all in one place, once again. As usual, I'm panicking about having so much to do in such a short time. We don't come early, and we don't leave late -- we arrive Friday late afternoon and we're out of there early Monday morning. So it's a very short timeframe in which to cram about a week's worth of activity.

Yeah, I know. I do this song and dance before every party, and have done so for years. Can you imagine what John goes through?? He has to deal with Ms. Panic. I told you guys before, he even made up a parody about me, Panic the Cat, sung to the tune of the "Felix the Cat" theme. (groan)

So I'm restless and anxious and way too damn hot and and and... ARGGGH! For Christ's sake, Erica, get a grip. It's Wednesday the 15th. Go do some work. Go to the gym. Go get spanked... oh, wait. Can't do that until next Monday. Oh well, that's OK. Did I mention that it's too damn hot?

Welcome to the E L Scott Asylum, folks. Fasten your straitjackets. It's going to be a crazy couple of weeks.

  1. Maybe your new job will alleviate the nervousness in the mean time.

Have a great time. Sass it up and please tell John I said hi.

  2. Time with friends just blows by soooo quickly. It never seems enough for me.

I'm glad you're excited for SL! The pre-party anticipation is part of the fun. I'm usually a wreck before parties too. I get nervous about all the people, and I also pack the night before or morning of my flight, which usually means I end up sitting on the floor and crying at least once, swearing to go about in stretchy pants for the entire weekend.

    Can't wait to see you!

  3. I'm so excited for you. Can't wait to hear about it.

  4. Erica, Splish, splash, balderdash. Yes, Wolfie's drawing of you is possibly pure Picasso. A Ravishing Rembrandt. Or a Goya's masterpiece the ever popular "The Naked Erica".

  5. Kelly -- actually, and not to sound ungrateful, but this new client is adding to the stress! They are very nice, but their methods of delivering work (format, markup, invoicing, checklists, etc.) are extremely detailed (read: anal). It's going to take quite the learning curve before I get into a routine with them. Fortunately, they seem to understand this.

Beth -- I pack that same morning too, but I do pre-plan all my outfits in my head (and sometimes try them on, just to make sure they still look OK) beforehand! And yes, we share that "overwhelmed" gene. This is why I need scheduled decompression times. Can't wait to see you too!

Emen -- I promise I will have my usual blog series afterward. :-)

  6. Six -- I do have a Picasso nose. ;-)

  7. And a very CUTIE BOOTY, sculptered possibly by Michaelangelo. As for your pubic area, and breasts, heavenly sent and carved to perfection.

  8. I wish that we could have spent more time together, too, and that I could have gotten there when I was supposed to, but I'm so glad for the time we did spend! You're such a sweetheart, and I can't wait to spend more time with you at Shadowlane. By the way, our chat had the exact same effect on me. I'm totally pumped up for the event! <3

  10. Alex -- hey sweets! Not to worry; there were circumstances beyond your control. I'm just glad you made it there in one piece (and we got an inside table!). See you verrrry soon. :-)

NV -- in my case, a straitjackets is more appropriate. ;-)

  12. The packing and the travelling does cause a lot of anxiety, even when you know in the end it's totally worth it. I hope all your preparations go smoothly. I've never made a 6-7 hr drive alone before, and with my sense of direction I hope I don't end up in Denver! I'm more nervous than excited at this point, but looking forward to saying hello in person!

  13. Lea -- you have my empathy! Our drive is 4-5 hours and I do not like it one bit. Although long drives are certainly easier with online directions and GPS. John, my beloved dinosaur, still has (and uses) paper maps. Never could read those damn things! (Can't refold them, either.)

  14. Erica,

I like the way you describe your pre-party jitters. I am both excited and nervous about attending SL for the first time. Fortunately, I will be with a group that includes many of my best friends. I am looking forward to saying hello.

    Hug,
    joey

  17. Have a lot of fun at Shadow Lane, Erica! I would have loved to meet you there again this year, but unfortunately there is no chance that Ludwig and I will make it (Vegas is not exactly around the corner from where we live).

  18. Craig -- ramping up, me? :-)

Kaelah -- wish I could see you both again too! Perhaps another party in the future.

  19. My version.. on short notice.. hahahaha!

    Panic the Cat
    The Wonderful Wonderful Brat
Whenever she gets in a fix
Tops reach into their bag of tricks
    Panic the Cat
    The wonderful wonderful Brat
She'll Brat so hard her bottom will ache
    Her mouth will go tit-for-tat
    That's Panic, the wonderful Brat!

  20. Zelle -- ROFL!! John's version makes me sound less like a brat and more like the child in The Exorcist ("her head will spin, her eyes will tear..."). :-D
