The heat is on

Southern California has had an unusual reprieve from the extreme heat in the rest of the country. Not anymore. Triple digits, starting tomorrow. No marine layer. If you live at the coast, you will be comfortable. But inland, you will fry.

Preparing myself for failing A/C, hot cars, restless nights and wearing as little as possible.

Or nothing at all. I do believe I'll be spending a lot of time in here.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

EDIT: As of late last night, the A/C has been blowing room-temperature air. It's nearly 10:30 AM and the temps are climbing rapidly. Just kill me now, OK?

  1. It's hot here too, but there are restrictions on water usage, so I'll just sit on a tray of ice cubes.

  2. It's hot up here, too. I know we will be having triple digits likely today. It is hot outside right now and it is 7:55 AM. It will probably be at least 95 before the day is over. Hundreds in Sac.

We are in "upstate" Nevada, warm, but not hot - yet.

  6. We've plummeted to mid-90s this week. It was 106 twice last week. And drought. Move over :)

  7. Hermione -- I am all for that, year-round! :-)

    Bobbie Jo -- Blech.

    OBB -- beats a woman without a neck, I guess. ;-)

Ronnie -- that is hard for me to imagine at this moment, anyone being cold!

Jade -- not sure how much fun we'll have, if they don't fix the A/C! (sigh)

Emen -- we're in hell. It's that simple.

  8. Laugh if you must, but our temps have been in the low/mid 90s for the last several weeks. Today at 7 am the temp was upper 60s max and I was "chilly."

I'm one of those who likes to feel heat in more than one place. :)

  9. Erica,

One thing I appreciate about L.A. heat is that at least it's a dry heat. I remember vacationing in Florida and wanting to slit my wrists. Find a pool and try to stay cool!

    xo,
    SC

PS That photo is as hot as the weather!

  11. Just me Erica I like it warm but not the temperatures your having. It's not actually cold just very wet and quite cool for this time of the year. I think someone forgot to tell the UK summer had arrived.

    Love,
    Ronnie

  12. Kelly -- oh, upper 60s sounds heavenly right now.

SC -- ugh! Yeah, John and I went to Florida for FMS two summers ago. I've never seen such humidity in my life. It was absolutely GROSS!

Craig -- shower for you, too? :-D

Ronnie -- oh, my. I want to live in the UK! lol

  16. I know it at least got up to 90 today and right now it is 73. I can remember it being so hot when I was a kid that our butter would melt. That was with two air conditioners in the house. Mom would insist that I cover up when she didn't. What? I wasn't as hot as she was?!

Glad your air conditioner is working again.

I bet it is rather hot at your place about now. ;-D

  17. I don't have central air, I have a swamp cooler. People in most other states don't even know what that is. It's a sorry ass replacement for central air is all I can say. I'll stay indoors as much as possible, not that that's really different from the rest of the year. Lol.

  18. Lea -- I know what swamp coolers are, but I've never heard anyone say anything good about them, so I wonder why they still exist! Central air is only as good as its system -- John's is wonderfully powerful at his house, but this building's A/C is pretty lame.
